I am interested in using the camera as a tool for investigation, to examine the boundaries and document the borderlines of given places and spaces by creating Experience & Image Maps. It is taking a close look at the outline of public parks, plazas and other spaces that have artificially fabricated perimeters. Although mapping is a method of gathering, ordering and recording knowledge, all maps are to some extent the products of imagination. No map is ever the truly objective description of a place that it claims to be. Every map is shaped – and colored – by political, cultural and social conditions, and by the personal experience or imaginative projections of its maker. By photographing and experiencing the outline of a space, I am constructing my own account into a visual format, which I call Experience & Image Maps.
